TRAINING AND MENTORING PROGRAMS
Zeewood is committed to the education and training of young geologists; as the company regards it as vital to offer training and mentoring services to on-the-ground individuals who show an exceptional drive to learn.
External training
The company has a policy of encouraging and supporting in both time and financially for study and education assistance for staff to assist in improving their job-related skills and enhancing career development opportunities.
Long term goals of personnel can be tailor suited by a wide range of training courses and certifications available. By supporting further education and training Zeewood can further utilise and retain personnel keen to further improve themselves. All relevant courses ultimately return their skills and increased efficiency to the business, there by being an important trait to encourage.
Mentoring
Zeewood provides new team members the opportunity to be mentored by senior staff. Geologists can benefit from advice on their work processes from mature individuals advanced in their chosen field. Mentors can provide information on all aspects relating to the management of exploration and mine site work programmes including but not limited to:
- The supervision of drilling rigs and all associated tasks.
- The planning, budgeting and establishment of exploration (drilling, seismic, etc) programmes.
- Compliance and monitoring of environmental, cultural and safety & health requirements.
- Providing practical advice on how to best conduct oneself.
Supportive work cultures are a well-documented factor in the retention of staff, a factor that Zeewood prides itself in being able to achieve. Staff retention is a key driver for Zeewood reducing risk and cost to both the company and client; a factor borne out by the long term relationships established between the company and its field personnel.
